CSS Shield targets ₹15 lakh support for bereaved officers' families
The voluntary Central Secretariat Service initiative formalises a peer-support effort that reports contributing about ₹1.30 crore since 2020.
The Central Secretariat Service Forum has launched CSS Shield, a voluntary mutual-support initiative for the families of deceased officers.
The forum says CSS officers have contributed about ₹1.30 crore to the families of roughly 65 to 70 deceased colleagues since 2020. The new structure aims to provide at least ₹15 lakh per bereaved family and envisages participation across about 13,000 service members.

A dependable peer-support mechanism can reduce immediate financial stress after a death in service while drawing attention to how formal employment benefits and community support fit together.
