Defence council grants initial clearance to proposals worth about Rs 1.10 lakh crore
The Acceptance of Necessity decisions cover military mobility, engineering, aviation and protection systems, but are not procurement contracts.
The Defence Acquisition Council has granted Acceptance of Necessity to proposals valued at about Rs 1.10 lakh crore. This is an in-principle step in the procurement process rather than a signed contract.
Army items identified in the official release include chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear reconnaissance vehicles, high-mobility vehicles, self-propelled mechanical mine layers, advanced light helicopters, trawl tanks and the Sarvatra bridge system.
Why it matters
The proposals affect military mobility, engineering, aviation and protective capabilities. They may also shape order pipelines and technology requirements for domestic defence suppliers.

The next evidence is the request for proposal, vendor selection, indigenous content, contract value, trials, delivery schedule and lifecycle support. Initial clearance should remain clearly separated from completed procurement.
Limitations
Acceptance of Necessity is neither expenditure nor a signed order. Final quantities, suppliers, contract terms and service-wise delivery schedules require later procurement disclosures.
