Electronics-incubation programme sets a 500-startup target for its next phase
STPI has opened a new challenge programme and expanded its spoke network after reporting 59 supported startups in the first phase.
Software Technology Parks of India held Electropreneur Summit 2026 at IIIT-Delhi, launched an Open Challenge Programme and signed agreements with 11 northern spoke centres, Indian Angel Network and Solara Venture Capital.
STPI says the first programme phase supported 59 startups, 66 patent filings and 129 products, with cumulative revenue of about Rs 150 crore and valuation of about Rs 640 crore. The second phase has a stated target of 500 startups.
Why it matters
Electronics incubation, intellectual-property support and access to early-stage capital can strengthen domestic product development and commercialisation.

The next phase should be measured through transparent selection criteria, capital raised, patents granted rather than filed, repeatable revenue, startup survival and manufacturing outcomes across the spoke network.
Limitations
The programme metrics are reported by STPI without an independent audit, cohort baselines or a published timetable for reaching the 500-startup target.
