NSO publishes district estimates for India's unincorporated non-farm economy
The first district-level ASUSE release covers 757 districts and adds local detail on establishments, employment and gross value added.
The National Statistical Office has released district-level estimates from the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises 2025 for the non-agricultural economy.
The report covers 757 of 770 districts in the survey frame. The official release says the top 50 districts account for nearly one-third of establishments, workers and gross value added; women form at least one-third of the workforce in 237 districts; and gross value added per worker exceeds the national average in 280 districts.
Why it matters
District-level evidence can support more targeted economic, employment and formalisation policy than state averages alone.

The new granularity is valuable, but users should examine reliability measures before ranking districts or making precise local comparisons.
Limitations
The estimates come from a sample survey and are subject to sampling variability. Some relative standard errors are high, district boundaries may differ from current administrative maps, and Delhi district estimates are unavailable under the design.
