India reports 15.55% growth in combined exports through August
Estimated merchandise and services exports reached US$399.27 billion in April-August 2026-27, up from US$345.55 billion a year earlier.
The Commerce Ministry estimates combined merchandise and services exports at US$399.27 billion in April-August 2026-27, up from US$345.55 billion a year earlier.
Merchandise exports reached US$215.91 billion, an increase of 17.85%, while non-petroleum merchandise exports rose 14.39% to US$180.61 billion. For August alone, combined exports were estimated at US$82.68 billion and imports at US$92.09 billion.
Why it matters
The data indicate broad export growth and help separate merchandise performance from services estimates, petroleum effects and the continuing import bill.
SCULTRA point of view
Strong growth should be assessed through volume versus price effects, destination and product concentration, services estimate revisions, import intensity and whether gains persist beyond a favourable comparison base.
Limitations
Services figures are estimates because the latest central-bank services data were available only through July at release time. Monthly values are subject to revision, and percentage growth does not by itself show real-volume growth or firm-level distribution.
