The Government of India, in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, plans gross dated-security borrowing of ₹7.86 lakh crore in the second half of FY2026-27.

The programme is scheduled across 23 weekly auctions and includes ₹15,000 crore of sovereign green bonds. Full-year dated borrowing is expected at ₹15,99,506 crore, compared with a Budget Estimate of ₹17,20,000 crore. The Ways and Means Advances limit for the half year is ₹50,000 crore.

Why it matters

The borrowing schedule gives debt-market participants a clearer view of sovereign supply, maturity distribution and the government's near-term cash-management framework.

SCULTRA point of view

Execution will matter more than the headline total. Auction demand, accepted yields, maturity absorption and any switching or buyback operations will shape the programme's market impact.

Limitations

The plan is indicative and does not forecast yields, demand, prices or returns. Auction terms may change with market and cash conditions. This article is informational and is not investment advice.
