NFRA forms advisory committee on audit quality, assurance and technology

The new group brings together audit, finance, board, regulatory, industry and technology experience to advise the reporting regulator.

The National Financial Reporting Authority has formed an Advisory Committee on Audit Quality, Assurance and Technology under Rules 15 and 16 of the NFRA Rules, 2018.

The committee includes professionals, chief financial officers, audit-committee members, independent directors, technology specialists, regulators and industry representatives. It is NFRA's third such advisory body after groups formed in 2020 and 2024.

Why it matters

Audit quality increasingly depends on governance, system controls, data integrity and the way technology changes evidence and assurance work. A cross-functional forum can help surface implementation risks that do not fit within one professional discipline.

SCULTRA point of view

The committee will be most useful if its work leads to clear priorities, practical guidance, transparent consultation and evidence that recommendations improve audit consistency and reporting reliability.

Limitations

Constitution of an advisory committee is a governance input. The announcement does not itself change auditing requirements or establish what recommendations will be adopted, when they will be issued or how their effect will be measured.
