GSLV-F17 places EOS-05 into its intended transfer orbit

ISRO says the mission successfully deployed India's first imaging satellite designed for geosynchronous orbit.

The GSLV-F17 mission has placed the EOS-05 Earth-observation spacecraft into its intended sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit, according to ISRO's mission update.

ISRO describes EOS-05 as India's first imaging satellite designed to operate from geosynchronous orbit. The launch is a major mission milestone, while spacecraft commissioning and payload performance remain the next tests.

A geosynchronous imaging platform could expand persistent Earth-observation capability and demonstrate a new high-orbit mission path for India's space programme and its industrial partners.
