HAL hands over military trainers and civil helicopters
The delivery includes two Tejas twin-seat trainers, three HTT-40 basic trainers and four Dhruv New Generation helicopters.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited handed over two Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Final Operational Clearance twin-seat trainers and three HTT-40 basic trainers to the Indian Air Force on 18 September.
HAL also handed over four Dhruv New Generation helicopters in civil configuration to Pawan Hans. The company says the two Tejas trainers complete twin-seat deliveries under the Final Operational Clearance contract, while the civil helicopters are intended for passenger transport, emergency medical services and offshore logistics.
Why it matters
The handovers cover advanced fighter conversion training, basic pilot training and civil rotary-wing services, providing a concrete delivery milestone for India's domestic aerospace manufacturing base.

Delivery counts are useful, but the stronger test is operational acceptance, serviceability, training throughput, lifecycle support and performance after induction.
Limitations
A handover does not establish operational readiness, final acceptance or fleet availability. The release provides no contract value, serviceability measure or detailed schedule for wider programme commitments.
