Hindi language resources expand for public administration and translation
Hindi Shabd-Sindhu has reached eight lakh words, while the Kanthasth 2.0 translation resource contains more than five crore sentences.
At the 2026 Hindi Diwas conference, the Home Minister said Hindi Shabd-Sindhu has grown to eight lakh words, including more than 50,000 drawn from local languages. The stated target is to make it the world's largest dictionary by 2029.
The official release also says the Kanthasth 2.0 translation resource contains more than five crore sentences and has been opened to users outside India.

Large terminology and translation resources can support multilingual public administration, official communication and language-technology development.
