India joins an international framework for secure and interoperable 6G networks
The non-binding initiative sets a twelve-month timetable for government contacts, stakeholder mapping, supply-chain work and a 2027 review.
India has endorsed the Call to Action for 6G Leadership and Security, joining 24 other governments in a framework centred on open, interoperable, secure, resilient, resource-efficient and innovative networks.
The Department of Telecommunications will coordinate India's follow-up. The framework sets one-, three-, six- and twelve-month steps for government contacts, stakeholder mapping, sector engagement, supply-chain strategy and a 2027 progress review.
Why it matters
Early coordination can influence standards, security baselines, supply chains, research cooperation and market interoperability before commercial 6G systems emerge.

India's contribution should be tracked through the named lead agency, stakeholder list, standards work, research funding, patents and supply-chain actions against the published timetable.
Limitations
The framework is non-binding and preserves national autonomy. It announces no funding, spectrum allocation, commercial project or deployment date, while India's stated 10% standards-and-patents goal remains an ambition.
