Indian students win nine medals at international Earth-science competition
The team secured four gold, three silver and two bronze medals after a national selection process involving about 17,800 students.
India won four gold, three silver and two bronze medals at the 19th International Earth Science Olympiad in Turin, where students from 39 countries participated.
The Ministry of Earth Sciences says about 17,800 students entered the national test across 500 centres before the top 25 attended a training camp.
Why it matters
A broad selection and training pipeline can build early capability in geoscience, climate, hazards and resource systems, all of which require sustained technical talent.
