India International Water Week focuses on climate-resilient systems
The five-day programme brings international and state partners together around water planning, infrastructure, technology and implementation.
The ninth India International Water Week opened in New Delhi on 22 September under the theme Climate Resilient Water Management and runs through 26 September.
Germany and the Netherlands are participating as partner countries, alongside 14 partner states and two central ministries. The opening programme also introduced two publications on urban-river management and reservoir-sediment management.
Why it matters
Water resilience requires coordination across infrastructure, river basins, cities and communities. International and state participation can help compare methods and identify deployable practices.
SCULTRA point of view
The useful outcome will be a public set of owners, deadlines, financing paths and measurable commitments. Event participation and publication launches should lead to projects whose water, cost and resilience effects can be tracked.
Limitations
This is an opening-event release. It describes the agenda, participants and early outputs but provides no final agreements, funded implementation plan or measured improvement in water outcomes.
