Malaysia agrees to an Indian consulate in Kota Kinabalu

Malaysia has agreed to the establishment of an Indian Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, according to India's readout of a meeting at the BRICS Summit.
The two prime ministers also reviewed trade, investment, defence, semiconductors, infrastructure, the digital economy, energy, fintech, education and tourism, while reaffirming support for stronger ASEAN-India relations.

A consular presence can improve official, commercial and people-to-people access in eastern Malaysia while supporting wider engagement with Southeast Asia.
