Next PM-KUSUM phase is set to include a dedicated agrivoltaics component
The policy signal points to combined farming and solar generation, but detailed scheme rules, funding and safeguards have not yet been published.
Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi has said the next phase of PM-KUSUM will include a dedicated agrivoltaics component for farmers, producer organisations, cooperatives and panchayats, while keeping land ownership with farmers.
Speaking before an October agrivoltaics conference, he said about 29 lakh pumps had been solarised and referred to research in Pune testing 17 panel configurations across 30 crops.
Why it matters
Agrivoltaics can combine farm production with electricity income on the same land, but crop response, structural cost and local economics vary substantially.

Published scheme rules should be followed by regional evidence on crop yields, power revenue, land rights, maintenance, grid access and farmer economics.
Limitations
The dedicated component is a policy announcement. Guidelines, budget, eligibility and rollout dates have not been published, and the deployment figures are official claims.
