The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment said more than 2.88 lakh senior citizens have received shelter, food, healthcare, physiotherapy, recreation or related support through its programmes.
It reported 142 newly sanctioned senior-citizen homes, 228 camps covering more than 4.91 lakh beneficiaries and about 23.93 lakh free assistive devices for eligible low-income older people. A welfare portal was also launched as an information gateway.
