Senior-citizen welfare programmes report ₹1,089.58 crore released
The cumulative support covers care services, assistive devices, helplines, caregiver training and active-ageing initiatives.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment says about ₹1,089.58 crore has been released under two senior-citizen support programmes within the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana.
It reports that the Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens benefited more than 10.76 lakh people from 2014-15 through 2025-26 and recorded about ₹953.53 crore of spending. Support includes shelter, food, healthcare, assistive devices, helplines, caregiver training and active-ageing initiatives.

The programme sits at the intersection of ageing, social protection, health services and care infrastructure as India's senior population grows.

Cumulative spending and beneficiary counts should be accompanied by annual service quality, coverage gaps, unique-recipient counts, regional access, grievance outcomes and independent measures of wellbeing.
Limitations
The figures are cumulative government totals and do not define unique beneficiaries, provide year-by-year outcomes or include an independent impact evaluation. Released funds and expenditure across different components are not equivalent measures.
